Terrorizing Democracy October 21, 2007

Filed under: Politics — RL @ 7:59 pm

It was 18th October 2007, the day which promised to give hope to people of Pakistan. It was the eve of politics in Pakistan. People were dancing, singing and hoping that finally something is on its way may be to give us nothing more but at least the name of “Democracy” (The very hot word in Pakistan, today). Whatever the government says but it is true that the kind of mass movement that world witnessed on that eve has not been seen in Pakistan in last few years. Everyone preferred to sit back at home and watch others playing on their ground and their innings.

Every country has its own trends and traditions of politics. In US, there used to presidential debates well before the elections. In Japan, it is used to be smooth process when winning party nominates their candidate after winning the elections. The kind of politics we have in Pakistan can’t be compared with other nations. We can’t have systems like US and Japan but we have systems in which there used to emotional speeches, the blame game and huge rallies. This is Pakistan, my dear. The kind of volatility can be judged from the fact that our very first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan was assassinated in Oct, 1951. But it never means we should change the ways of our politics.

Government’s decision to band the rallies and mass movement in name of “Public Security” was very disappointing decision. It gives the message of “mission accomplished” to those who were responsible for whatever happened on 18th, October. It gives the message to every evil person that “Come, terror and Rule Pakistan. This decision will result even worse conditions for future of Pakistan than the twin blasts in Karachi. In true means, Rallies aren’t for the bomb blasts and killing people but to show the political consciousness of nation, emotions and needs of people. So government is not confining the rallies actually but it is constraining the voice of nation.

Coming to the day, the kind horrific event took place in Karachi, when the human’s flesh can be find at pavement and main aorta of Karachi better knows as Shahra-e-faisal, is nothing new for Pakistan’s history. We have seen such events before but what I haven’t seen is the change of fate of Pakistan. I hope this will be a new recipe for Pakistan’s history. 140 innocent people lost their lives, 500+ people injured, Business ceased to zero for days, Loss of billions. But it never means we go back our caves now, indeed this is time to show extremists that unity has the strength. Few nerds can’t rule the country with their own values with few blasts. We can’t allow our Pakistan to be exploited by few groups for their own aims. All people of Pakistan have to unite for this cause. It is the time for revolution from which we have go through sooner or later if we want to see the Pakistan to the place for which it was made and to make the better Pakistan for next generation.

May be I sounds bit emotional today, after all I am a proud Pakistani as well. But when I saw those sites of blood and hell, I would say it is a least reaction of what should have taken place afterward.

I salute those who were martyred for the cause of Nation. Now it’s our responsibility to carry the fire till it fires the home of those who are responsible for 18th October.

Pakistan Paindabad.

vote votE voTE vOTE VOTE… October 11, 2007

Politics is something which can’t be put on sideline of daily life of common man indeed it acts as centripetal force around which every thing revolves. Very interesting and graving political situation is in our country now. No one knows what’s going on…? Some say its deal and some says it is restoration of democracy. Give me a break…!!! Democracy in Pakistan, You must be kidding. Let me elaborate the word democracy according its name:-

Demos means People and cracy means Rule.

Now tell me does the people or say the majority rules here? Or has ever done in history of Pakistan? I believe no. 32 years or martial law, 12 years of game of corruption in name of democracy by Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto who broken the country economically and sparked the disintegration of society and blah blah blah…!!! Well, I am not here to criticize the history or review the history in my own words. I am here to say Vote Vote Vote but some people ask “for whom?” I would say, one should vote for himself and integrity of his morale.

The problem is People think they can’t do anything. They think, because they have never witnessed any successful mass movement of People in history of Pakistan. But it never means something which has happened in every developed nation of today’s, can’t happen here. They think because they have not realized the power of “A VOTE”.

The mean age of Pakistan’s 158 million population is 17 years means there are about 80 million people who are eligible to vote. But how many vote? Hardly 40 million. Shame on you Pakistani people….!!! If you don’t vote then you have no right to say something about the wrongdoings of politicians because those undeserved and ineligible people are there to decide our fate because we didn’t come out of our silent homes. We didn’t realize how easy is to bring the ease and democracy in our troubled nation. We didn’t realize “OUR SOLELY RESPONSIBILITY” being THE Pakistani. I believe those who don’t vote are bigger criminals then who sell votes. Because those who sell votes at least do something for themselves but those who don’t, do bad to themselves, their right and their identity as a Pakistani.

Now let’s think in practical way. If there are only 40 million people who vote and let’s say common man’s life isn’t being improved that government which is being brought by 40 million votes. One also has to accept the fact that majority of those 40 million people are the negative people of our society. And those who don’t vote, are the innocent and hopeless people who always wants peace and prosperity in country. So, after this short analysis, what we can infer is that these non-voters themselves can bring the government or rather say revolution of their own choice in the country. All they need is to realize the value of their own and their vote. Enough is enough now, We have to snatch our ball from evil people who have been playing with it since the name of our nation appeared on world’s map. In short, we have to come out of our caves now and let’s promise with our self that “I WILL VOTE”.

By the way I’ll have to cover 1058 kilometers to vote and may be have to miss my studies for two days or so. But It’ll be very first chance in my life to vote. And I’ll use this power and fulfill my responsibility. Best of luck Pakistan for upcoming nervous days.
